“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5
Hey, Stephany here, the owner of Sweet Bouqcakes Bakery, residing in Texas, originally from Dallas. We decided to make the move to West Texas due to my husband’s job in 2019. It was a big and scary leap for us to take but decided to take the jump & it has been the best decision yet. I met my husband in 2018 and in 2020 we decided to tie the knot. We have 3 little blessings who are the reason for all we do. Married life with 3 little ones sure is a challenge but putting God first in our relationship is all we need to keep moving forward and overcoming these challenges that come our way. Nothing is impossible with God. With the lord in our lives and my husband’s great support I am blessed to be able to be a stay at home mom and raise our babies in the comfort of our home. I don’t know where we would be without such an amazing man.
Oh, did I mention I am a baker? Being a baker was definitely not in my future vision, prior to my current home base business, I worked in the medical field as a medical assistant and phlebotomist. My dream was and still is to become an RN. I would love to go back to school and make my dreams come true one day. As a baker, my goal is to open up a bakery/coffee shop. Maybe one day I can fit it all into my busy schedule.
I remember being young and having to always help in the kitchen cook dinner & I dreaded every single moment of it as a little one! Fast forward to today, I cannot stay out of the kitchen! Seriously, I might as well have my bed in there haha. I have a deep love for whisking anything up for my family. I am the queen of trying new recipes. I have also recently grown a love for books. I enjoy church on Sundays and a nice family brunch afterward. There is nothing better than starting the week with the word of God.
What made you want to open a business?
I honestly had no idea I wanted to open up a business. One day I was scrolling on social media and came across a post of flower cupcakes, and I was like “WOW”. It captured my attention, and I started to look more into it. I remember one day I was bored and said, “I’m going to try to make one of those flower cupcakes.” So I got a few supplies I needed and got to it. Let me tell you, it looked terrible haha. I am a bit of a perfectionist and was not satisfied with the outcome, so I decided to keep trying. I kept practicing until I was somewhat satisfied. Mother’s Day was around the corner, and out of nowhere, I decided to post them for sale on Facebook. When I told you I sold out quickly, I was in complete shock! I believe I had about 40 orders! After that day, I started to get messages about placing orders. At that moment I decided to start taking orders, and now here I am with a small bakery business.
“My heart smiles to see others smile when receiving my bouqcakes and that is more than enough for me.”
Since my baking journey, I have always been a little scared in the back of my head asking myself a million questions. “Will people order from me?” “Are my prices too high?” “Will someone hate the taste of my cupcakes and give me a bad review?” “Will I fail?” “Should I be doing this?” “Is my purpose to be a baker?”
I keep my bible at my baking table, so every time I sit down to do an order I take a look at my bible and remind myself to just keep having faith. I believe God places us in certain places and situations for a reason. I pray and ask him to show me the way. Within one year of my journey, I have been on the news, and been invited to a bridal and quinceñera expo and I am so honored to be here doing this interview and get the chance to be featured in a magazine. What else can I ask for? As my faith grows more doors open.
When challenges arise, how do you approach them in your various roles?
Juggling being a baker, wife, and full-time stay-at-home mom to three little ones has been quite a hurdle. However, I have managed to establish a routine for my baking that has been working out well and harmonizing with my other responsibilities. Initially, I felt the need to bake and decorate everything just before pick up out of fear that it would dry out, leading to a constant rush. Over time, through research and preparation, I have streamlined my process for future orders. This efficiency has not only saved me time but also allowed me to handle multiple orders in a day if necessary.
Let’s talk motherhood, tell us a little about your mom role.
Being a mother is the best thing that has ever happened to me. It’s amazing how three little humans can teach us adults so much. I wouldn’t be who I am today without them. They have taught me the true meaning of love and especially how to be patient. Motherhood isn’t one of the easiest jobs, but it is the best job of all and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. One of the most important things I started teaching my children when they were babies was God. We pray every night and whenever prayer is needed. They love going to “Jesus’ house,” church, as they call it, and look forward to it every week. Hearing them ask if we are going to Jesus’ house or seeing them pray together lets me know I am doing something right. I want them to know our Lord and understand that if they ever need anything, all they have to do is open their Bible and talk to God. Prayer is everything.
Last, Share how faith has impacted your life.
I have found that my faith has brought me closer to God and has provided me with hope and positivity in all aspects of life. I strive to see the good in every situation, and I made the decision to get baptized in April, which has been incredibly fulfilling. Accepting Jesus into my life has been the greatest blessing I could have ever received. There is nothing better than accepting Jesus into your life.
Proverbs 31:25 “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” I love this verse because, I feel like sometimes us women forget how strong we are when we’re already filled with strength. Keep your head up ladies!
