Spiritual rhythms are essential for Christ’s followers to endure the challenges of life we face. Without daily spiritual practices, we are at risk of falling into traps set by the enemy or relying solely on ourselves.
First, can I say, Thank you for being here and reading my blog part of our website? I wish I could sit in a room with anyone who reads my heart. There is something so beautiful about sitting and fellowship with each other all showing love and respect.
Talking about spiritual rhythms in any type of “table setting” is one of the most underrated topics we Christians lest talk about. Why? I can speak for myself, I never truly had teachings on it growing up of the true importance of the why. I knew I was lacking in the area of consistency of my spiritual connection and relationship to Jesus, but did not put the two together. I truly started learning specifically the importance of spiritual rhythms through a cohort I went through. The ability to be guided and given resources on spiritual rhythms has helped me through these years of true daily transformation of freedom.
Spiritual rhythms are essential for long-term spiritual stamina; Why, because life is hard and we will have daily challenges every day till we leave this earth. “In the world, you will have tribulation.” John 16:33. Jesus himself made it so clear we will have tribulation. Every day the disciples and his followers were with him, they had hard days. Life was still hard. Take the storm at sea. Jesus was with them yet they thought they were going to die. But again Jesus was there. It’s our human nature to resort to our emotions instead of the faith built up in us. I learn the hard way, I am stubborn and need to be in control. Well, I am not great at running my own life so I surrendered my life to Jesus fully, which meant now to walk in a rhythm every day. Oh, btw there is no secret handbook on how to cheat on spiritual rhythms. God has made us all so unique for a reason we tend to try to find formulas to get fast and easy results. God is way smarter and wise and understands our human desires of an easy peasy life. No, God has a customized personal relationship handbook for each of us.
I want to give you some steps I took to seek out how to bring spiritual rhythms into my life. I hope these inspire you to find what works for you and first ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Jesus gave Him to us for a reason.
In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will My Daily Rhythms
Each morning, depending on the night before sleep or the stress of the day, I tend to give myself grace for hard or even bad days. But each morning saying, “Morning Jesus, I love you.”
My phone is next to my bed and some mornings I pick it up to read my daily devotion I have on my phone so I will be quickly refreshed. For me reading a verse each morning already quiets the dreams or stress. But please understand each morning does not look the same in the timeline aspect. I used to stress and burn my passion for Jesus because I didn’t know how to stay consistent on hard days when I felt depressed and embarrassed I didn’t feel like talking to him that morning. So I have learned to give myself a lot of grace.
Throughout the day I am finding time to do these three things:
Praise
Repentance
Prayer request
These three things are consistent every day all day. I feel less heavy when I do these 3 rhythms.
Now Reading the Word is a must. I will not lie and say I read the Bible 7 days a week, it’s more like 6. I used to read all day every day for knowledge and in dire need of mental experience, but now I found myself reading as a nice unforced flow. It feels good to be reminded of who God is in my steps for that day. A lot of self-reflection because the Holy Spirit is always leading me. I am blind without His Word. I find joy and mental peace in having my Bible around.
My Daily reminder, is Ephesians 1:1, “In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will.”
My prayer for you Sis, is that you will find your daily rhythm with Jesus. I believe in the power of the Holy Spirit intervening on your behalf. God’s love for you is the most unconditional and full of grace. Take hold, my friend.
Your Daily Daughter
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:
To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24
